Teaching and learning

Global Action Schools uses a simple three-stepped approach: learn, investigate, act. Students are encouraged to investigate development issues and explore their potential to shape some of the solutions.

Teaching and learning

Step 1: Learn

Students explore global issues from a range of perspectives using data such as text, maps, graphics, images or film. They learn how their actions affect not only their immediate surroundings but also poorer parts of the world.

Step 2: Investigate

Students investigate global interdependence and their connections with the rest of the world – for example, the food they eat, the clothes they buy, or the energy they use.

Step 3: Act

Students work together to create their own solutions to global problems. They plan, carry out and evaluate their own actions.

The toolkits support each step by providing a range of materials, including lesson ideas, curriculum links, activity sheets and photos.
