Methodology
Global Action School materials highlight global interdependence, particularly how everyday actions of children, young people and schools impact on people and places in poorer parts of the world, and in turn, how development issues affect them.
Materials explore how small changes in the day-to-day running of schools can have a positive impact on life in developing countries, particularly in relation to climate change, fairer trade and human rights.
Activities are action orientated, enabling students to make connections between what they study, the way the school operates and the impact their choices have on people and environments. Project resources take schools through three key learning steps: Learn, Investigate and Act:
- Learn: students are introduced to the importance of global issues and how actions here can impact on poorer parts of the world.
- Investigate: students measure their school’s impact on global issues, particularly those affecting the world’s poorest people.
- Act: using results from the investigation, schools are guided to set their own challenge and take action to increase their positive impact on global issues.
