Aims
The Global Action Schools project is a partnership between organisations in seven countries (Austria, Czech Republic, England, Malta, Poland, Slovak Republic and Thailand), made possible with funding from the European Commission. The project aims to:
- build knowledge and understanding of global interdependence and its impact on developing countries among European teachers, children and young people
- build a school culture and environment where teachers, children and young people contribute actively towards sustainable development
- facilitate active partnerships and shared knowledge about development issues between European NGOs and between teachers, young people and children in Europe and developing countries.
During 2006-8, the methodology was developed and piloted, in 200 schools, with 1000 teachers and 17,000 students. Thanks to generous funding from the EC, these materials are now available, to schools, free of charge to the first 10,000 schools across seven countries.
