

Action in schools
From helping to creating a fair trade valley in Austria to sending persuasive letters about fair trade procurement to MEPs in Malta, schools across Europe have found innovative and effective ways to bring about change.
Our teacher took us the supermarket to do some food detective work. We had to find fair trade products like tea, something grown in our region like pears, and something seasonal. Then, we investigated how things like sugar, bananas and coffee come to us from poor countries like Ghana.

Knowing that there are countries in the world where people go hungry, where farmers and producers work under unfair conditions, and have to save every single seed that they collect, makes us aware that every single plate of food that we eat has an effect.
